NOTICE OF RACE
REGINA SAILING CLUB

1 RULES
The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of
Sailing.
2 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
2.1 Sailors born in 1990 or later may enter in the Laser, Laser Radial, Byte and
29er classes. Sailors born in 1991 or later may enter in the Optimist class.
2.2 Eligible boats may enter by completing the Entry Form and sending it,
together with the required fees, and the completed CYA Youth Code of Conduct, to
Patty Coons, Box 44, Silton, SK, S0G 4L0, by August 16, 2006.

3 FEES
Single crew boat (no meals) $40.00
Double crew boat (no meals) $60.00
After August 11, add $20.00 per boat
T-shirt (each) $15.00
Full meal package (each) $65.00
(4 breakfasts, 4 lunches, 3 suppers)
Weekend meal package (each) $35.00
(2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 1 supper)
4 SCHEDULE
4.1 Wednesday, August 23 1900-2100 Registration

1000 YOTS on-water seminar
1830 YOTS dry-land seminar
Friday, August 25 0800 Coaches', ROs', Judges' meeting
0900 YOTS on-water seminar
1300 Competitors' meeting
1400 Warning signal for 1st race
Subsequent warning signals will be made as soon as practicable after the 1st
race.
Saturday, August 26 0800 Coaches', ROs', Judges' meeting
Coaches are encouraged to bring one competitor to these meetings.
1000 Warning signal for 1st race
Subsequent warning signals will be made as soon as practicable after the 1st
race.
Sunday, August 27 0800 Coaches', ROs', Judges' meeting
Coaches are encouraged to bring one competitor to these meetings.

Subsequent warning signals will be made as soon as practicable after the 1st
race.
4.2 On Sunday, no warning signals will be made after 1300.
4.3 Eleven races are scheduled.
4.4 On Saturday and Sunday, lunches will be served ashore, as practicable.
5 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions will be available at the venue on Thursday, Aug. 24.
6 VENUE
The event will be held at the Regina Sailing Club in Saskatchewan Beach,
Saskatchewan. The Regina Sailing Club, the Saskatchewan Sailing Clubs
Association and the Canadian Yachting Association are the organisers of this
event.
7 THE COURSES
Courses will be described in the Sailing Instructions. Windward-leeward courses
will be used.
8 PENALTY SYSTEM
For the 29er classes rules 44.1 and 44.2 are changed so that only one turn,
including one tack and one gybe, is required.
8 SCORING
8.1 One race is required to be completed to constitute a series.
8.2 (a) When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat's series score will
be the total of her race scores.
(b) When from 5 to 11 races have been completed, a boat's series score will be
the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
9 SUPPORT BOATS
9.1 Support boats shall be marked with provincial letters.
9.2 A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio
communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to
mobile telephones.
10 PRIZES
Prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in each class.
11 SAFETY
11.1 Competitors shall wear approved life jackets or PFDs at all times while
afloat, except when changing clothing. This changes Rule 40 and the Part 4
Preamble.
11.2 All boats will have a painter of minimum dimensions 5 m length x 7 mm
diameter attached to the mast.
12 INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability
insurance.
13 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4,
Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for
material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or
prior to, during, or after the regatta.
14 RIGHTS TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS
By participating in this event, a competitor automatically gives permission to
the organizing authorities and sponsors of the event the right to make, use and
show, at their discretion, still pictures, motion pictures, video tapes, live,
film or taped television, or any other reproductions of him or her during
participation in the event and in all material related to the event, without
compensation.
