From the Bridge

I am very pleased to welcome you to our club.  When you think of sailing,  your first thought is not likely perhaps to be of southern Saskatchewan or even the prairies .....but maybe that will change as you get to know us better!

The past couple of years have been both challenging and rewarding. In 2005 LMLSC, the village of Saskatchewan Beach and the SSCA hosted a very successful Canada Games sailing event. A lot of hard work went into preparing and upgrading the club facilities for the games. My objective for the next two years will be membership building. Plans so far are to bring back the Wednesday evening cruises on a bi-weekly schedule. We will also be hosting the Spring and WISC regattas.

We are a relatively small and friendly club with 30+ members about half of which are keenly active.  We are a sailing club, rather than a "yacht club" so our social activities are somewhat informal.

Our course is steady on these four landfalls:
1.  To tell prospective members about our club
2.  To keep club members informed and involved in club activities
3.  To ensure a seaworthy vessel for communication
4.  To provide a catapult to a world of sailing and related websites and discussion groups

Some Background:

Originally  incorporated on June 17, 1974 as a "Society", Last Mountain Sailing Club now comes under the arm of the provincial Saskatchewan Sailing Clubs Association which is a non-profit corporation.  Our clubhouse, ramp, docks, equipment and boat storage areas are located within and leased from the Saskatchewan Beach Regional Park which is, funnily enough located in the resort village of Saskatchewan Beach on Last Mountain Lake (sometimes called Long Lake on account of its length of over 100 kms).  Alternatively, we are across the lake and a little to the south and east of Regina Beach.

Club membership is open to anyone who wishes to sail and our objectives continue to be:
1. To foster, promote and advance the art, sport and recreation of sailing.
2. To promote and encourage all facets of sailing, including training, racing and cruising.
3. To foster, promote and encourage safe practices both on and off the water.

On behalf of the club I hope you find our site interesting and don't forget to sign our visitor's book.  Better yet - come out and sail with us sometime, we would love to see you.
